Corona hit stage workers hard and the general cultural landscape with a vengeance. Society lost the arts for a time, and the arts began to lose themselves.
For the 21/22 season, the Staatstheater Darmstadt chose the motto „Was fehlt“ (What's missing), which was deliberately left open to interpretative discourse, as what exactly is missed, remains to be answered by the recipients of the visual campaign.
Each motif leaves a part to be missed, But deciphering the visual fragmentaries is not that simple. It is about reflecting one's own reality in the context of the exceptional social situation, that covid19 has created. As in the motto itself, question and statement are fused to provoke new contexts, relationships, interactions, understandings and experiences.
